After racing out to a 6-0 start to the season, the Winona Christian Lady Stars suffered four straight losses last week.
The Lady Stars hammered Starkville Academy 25-7 on Monday and Oak Hill 20-1 on Tuesday to move to 6-0 on the season. They then lost to Winston 7-1 on Thursday and lost three games on Saturday, including a pair of losses to Washington at the Indianola Tournament.
Winona, now 6-4 on the season, was set to return action on Monday as they will host Oak Hill. They will play at Pillow on Thursday and at the Tri-County Tournament on Saturday.
Winona Christian 20, Oak Hill 1
The Lady Stars opened district play with a convincing win over the Lady Raiders on Tuesday.
Oak Hill scored a run in the first to take an early lead before Winona scored five in the second, three in the third and 12 in the fourth to take the run-rule win.
Winona out hit Oak Hill 14-1 in the contest. Ashleigh Parkinson was 4-for-5 with four runs scored and four RBIs while Sara Rawles was 2-for-3 with two walks and five RBIs. Hilary Beckwith was 2-for-4 with three RBIs while Madyson Leach was 2-for-2 with two runs scored. Kaylah Varnes tripled, walked twice and had two RBIs while scoring three runs. Lennie Wood walked three times and scored three runs while driving in two runs. Haley Beckwith singled and scored two runs while Terri Cain singled and drove in two runs.
Winona had 10 stolen bases in the contest as Wood and Parkinson had two each.
Rawles picked up the win as she pitched four complete innings and gave up one run on one hit and one walk while striking out seven.
Winona Christian 25, Starkville Academy 7
The Lady Stars used an 11-run sixth inning to take a run-rule win over the Lady Volunteers on Monday.
Winona led 6-2 after the first inning and added three in the third and five in the fourth to lead 14-6 after four innings. The Lady Stars finished with 11 runs in the sixth to take the win.
Winona outhit Starkville 21-9 in the contest. Madyson Leach was 4-for-5 with four runs scored and three RBIs while Kaylah Varnes was 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Haley Beckwith was 3-for-5 with a triple and three runs scored. Ashleigh Parkinson was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs while Terri Cain was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Hilary Beckwith was 2-for-5 with four runs scored and two RBIs while Lennie Wood was 2-for-6 with two RBIs. Hannah Beckwith tripled and drove in two runs while Miranda McDaniel scored three runs and Kate Ware scored twice.
Sara Rawles pitched four innings and gave up six runs on eight hits with three strikeouts while Allie Rawles pitched two innings and gave up one run on one hit.
Washington 6, Winona Christian 5
The Lady Generals scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a time-limit win on Saturday at the Indianola Tournament.
Washington scored one run in the first and Winona answered with three in the top of the second. Washington tied it with two runs in the bottom of the third before Winona scored two in the top of the fifth to go up 5-3. But Washington scored three in the bottom of the fifth to take the win.
Washington outhit Winona 7-6 in the contest. Sara Rawles was 2-for-3 with two RBIs while Ashleigh Parkinson was 2-for-2 with a triple. Terri Cain also tripled while Madyson Leach also singled and scored a run.
Sara Rawles pitched 4.1 innings and scattered seven hits and gave up four earned runs while striking out two.
Marshall 8, Winona Christian 0
The Lady Stars went hitless in a four-inning contest on Saturday.
After three and a half scoreless innings, Marshall scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the win.
Allie Rawles pitched three innings and gave up three runs on four hits while Allie Leach pitched 2/3 of an inning.
Washington 3, Winona Christian 1
The Lady Generals took a tight two-run win over the Lady Stars to open up play on Saturday.
The score was tied 1-1 after two innings before Washington scored two runs in the third to take the win.
Lennie Wood had Winona’s only hit and scored after stealing a base.
Sara Rawles pitched five innings, giving up two hits and three unearned runs while striking out one.
Winston 7, Winona Christian 1
The Lady Patriots used a pair of three-run innings to take a six-run win over the Lady Stars on Thursday.
Winston scored three in the first and sixth innings and one in the fourth. Winona scored one in the seventh.
Winston out hit Winona 14-1 in the contest. Madyson Leach had Winona’s only hit and an RBI that scored Terri Cain.
Sara Rawles pitched four innings while Allie Rawles pitched 1 2/3 innings and Allie Leach pithed the final 1 1/3 innings.
