In a tight district game, it was Winona Christian that came away with a one-run win over rival Carroll Academy on Tuesday.
Winona Christian was scheduled to play at Marshall on Monday in their only action of the week. They will return to action after Labor Day and host Marshall on Tuesday, Sept. 4.
Carroll jumped out to a 6-1 lead, but Winona Christian rallied for a one-run win in district play last Tuesday.
Carroll led 2-0 after two innings and 6-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth when the Lady Stars scored seven runs to take an 8-6 lead. Winona added two more runs to lead 10-6 before Carroll scored three runs in the top of the seven.
For Winona, Olivia Dendy was 2-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs. Shelby Bowering was also 2-for-3 with a double. Haley Evans and Ashley Parkinson each singled and scored twice, while Parkinson had two walks. Bella Roberts walked twice and scored, while Elise Diffey also walked twice. Jada Mims had a double and drove in two runs.
For Carroll, Sandy Tackett had three hits including a double while Kaylee Ferguson and Meri Brynn Reeves each had a pair of doubles. Kaitlyn Chamblee and Presley Woods each had singles.
Sara Rawles pitched seven innings and picked up the win.
