After a pair of frustrating losses, Carroll Academy put together one of its best games of the season against Central Holmes before falling 6-3 last week.
The Lady Rebels also dropped a 10-0 decision to Marshall and a 4-1 decision to North Sunflower.
Carroll was scheduled to play host Pillow on Monday and Winona Christian on Tuesday and will play at the Bayou Tournament in Cleveland on Saturday.
Central Holmes 6, Carroll 3
Central Holmes built a 4-0 lead but battled back to pull within three and had the tying run at the plate before a long fly ball came up short.
In the fourth, Kaitlyn Chamblee singled, moved to second on a ground out and scored as Katie Lauren Clark reached on an error. Sandy Tackett singled by the pinch runner was thrown out at third on a close play. In the seventh, Bella Carter led off with a single and Chamblee reached on an error. Clark then singled to score pinch runner Natalie Kelly. Helen Claire Cobb then singled to score Chamblee. Meri Brynn Reeves then hit a long fly ball that was caught about 10 feet from the fence for the final out.
Carroll had six hits in the game but committed five errors while Central Holmes had eight hits and committed three errors.
Marshall 10, Carroll 0
The Lady Rebels managed just one hit as they dropped a run-rule decision to Marshall.
Marshall scored one in the first, three in the second, two in the third and four in the fourth.
The Lady Patriots had six hits but took advantage of eight errors as all of their runs were unearned. Sandy Tackett took the loss on the mound.
Carroll got out of a first-inning jam by executing a triple play in the first inning. With runners on second and third with no outs, a grounder was hit to Sara Austin Welch who threw home to Meri Brynn Reeves to get the runner at the plate. Reeves then threw back to Welch to get the runner at third. The ball then went to Tackett who threw to center fielder Kaitlyn Chamblee to tag the runner out trying to advance to second on the play.
Carroll’s only hit was a single by Tackett in the third.
North Sunflower 4, Carroll 1
North Sunflower used a four-run third inning to take a three-run win over Carroll last week.
North Sunflower had just one hit but took advantage of six walks by Kaylee Ferguson, who got tagged with the loss. Carroll scored its lone run in the fifth inning when Katie Lauren Clark led off the inning with a double. Pinch runner Layla Hall scored when Sandy Tackett reach on an error. Meri Brynn Reeves also doubled in the first while Bella Carter singled in the second and loaded the bases with one out but was unable to score. Tackett also had a single in the third.
Tackett pitched 2 1/3 of an inning and struck out one.
