J.Z. George pulled off a doubleheader sweep of Ruleville Central but dropped a 15-3 decision to Amanda Elzy in Region 3-3A games last week.
The Jaguars, who were 6-13 and 3-5 in league action before playing their final two regular season games this week, can make the playoffs with a win over either Humphreys County or Charleston or one loss by Elzy to Ruleville Monday in a twinbill.
In the setback to the Panthers, which was played April 12, the Jaguars were held to four hits and committed 17 errors in the field in the five-inning contest.
Michael Bankston (3-3) took the loss as he went four innings, allowing all 15 runs on 16 hits, walking two and fanning five.
The Panthers plated two runs in the first, three in the second, six in the third and four in the fourth. The Jags scored two in the third and one in the fifth.
Brandon McKenzie and Jacob Johnson had a single and RBI each. Johnson also scored a run and stole three bases. Athan Shute and WilTavious Williams had a single each with Williams scoring a run.

In the first contest, J.Z. George won 16-7 as it scored three runs in the first, one in the fourth, 10 in the fifth and two in the sixth. Ruleville scored one run each in the second, third and sixth frames, and two each in the fourth and fifth innings.
Bankston, the fourth Jaguar pitcher, went two innings to earn the win. He allowed two runs on two hits, walking one and fanning six. Nathan Carpenter started on the mound but did not complete the first inning. He had one walk. Shute worked three innings, allowing two runs on three hits, walking two and striking out seven.
Williams went one inning, allowing two runs on four walks with one strikeout. Kendrick Head got the final two outs, walking three and fanning two.
Head led the way at the plate with two doubles, a single, two RBIs and two runs scored. Johnson had two singles, two RBIs and scored twice, and Robbie Clunan had a single, double, RBI and run scored.
Bankston chipped in a double, RBI and scored three runs, and Shute scored three runs. Carpenter, Josh May and Williams scored a run each.
In the second game, J.Z. George came out on top 16-5 as Lance Mullen (1-1) got the win. He worked three innings, yielding three runs on one hit, walking four and striking out eight. Shute started on the mound, lasting one inning, allowing one run on two hits, walking one and fanning two.
The Jags scored one in the first, eight in the second, two in the third and five in the fourth. Ruleville plated one run each in the first and third innings, and three in the fourth.
Shute collected two singles and a double, drove in three runs and scored three times. Head had a single, double, scored three times and drove in a pair, while Johnson had two singles, an RBI and scored three runs.
McKenzie had a double, two RBIs and two runs scored, and Clunan had a single, two RBIs and scored one time. Bankston had an RBI and scored twice.
May, Williams and Carpenter scored a run each, and Carpenter and May had an RBI apiece. May got on base with four walks.
