J.Z. George’s offense came alive as it took advantage of McAdams High School in a 27-0 rout of the Bulldogs last Tuesday at McAdams.
The Jaguars, who move to 1-6 on the season, scored two runs in the first inning, 24 in the second frame and one in the third.
Senior Michael Bankston got the win on the mound as he went all three innings, allowing just one hit, walking two and fanning four. At the plate, Bankston had a single, two doubles, four RBIs, stole two bases and scored four times.
Senior Jacob Johnson had a banner day hitting the ball as he had a single, two-run homer and a grand slam in the second inning. He drove in a total of seven runs and scored three times.
Sophomore Thurman Koch had three singles, scored three times and stole three bases, and senior Wil’Tavious Williams had a single and double, scored three runs, stole three bases and drove in two runs.
Junior Alan Busby had a double, triple and swiped a pair of bases, and senior Nathan Carpenter had a double and RBI. Sophomore Brandon McKenzie had a single and scored two runs.
The Jaguars’ game with Central Holmes last Thursday was canceled because of wet grounds. They played host to North Delta School Tuesday and go to Region 2-2A foe East Webster High School Thursday for a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.
The Lady Jaguars fast-pitch softball team dropped a 17-0 decision to Region 2-2A foe Eupora High School last Tuesday and lost 20-0 to Bruce last Thursday to fall to 0-8 overall and 0-4 in league play.
The Lady Jags played host to Calhoun City Monday. They are slated to visit West Point Thursday and entertain the Lady Green Wave Friday.
