Carroll Academy’s basketball season came to an end last week as they fell to Madison-Ridgeland Academy in the second round of the MAIS Overall Tournament at Mississippi College, falling 73-59.
The Rebels gave the Patriots all they wanted as they jumped out to a 16-8 lead in the first period. But MRA bounced back in the second as they outscored Carroll 23-15 to tie the score at 31-31 at the half.
The Patriots pulled away in the second half as they outscored the Rebels 18-7 in the third and 24-21 in the fourth to take the win.
Reese Fulton had a big game underneath for the Rebels with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Logan Taylor had 111 points, four rebounds and four assists and Austin Smith had 10 points and five rebounds. Noah Beck had six points and five rebounds for the Rebels.
Both teams shot 45 percent for the contest but MRA was 20-of-29 from the free-throw line while Carroll was just 12-of-22. The Rebels also had 23 turnovers to 15 for MRA.

The Rebels advanced in the first round of the MAIS Overall Tournament on Tuesday at Mississippi College.
Reese Fulton led the Rebels with 18 points and 19 rebounds while Logan Taylor had 13 points, five assists and four rebounds. Austin Smith had eight points and six rebounds and Morgan Mims had six points and six rebounds. Noah Beck also had six points and three rebounds.
