Jags looking for first win Friday against Humphreys County

The Jaguars, despite their 0-8 overall record and 0-2 mark in the district, can still make the playoffs with a pair of wins in the final three games.

Runners compete at Choctaw Trails

JACKSON – Winona had four boys and two girls compete at the Mississippi College Invitational cross-country meet at Choctaw Trails — the annual course for the state meet. Because neither team had five runners they did not have team scores.

Winona competed in Division 2 for 1A, 2A and 3A schools.

Lady Tigers head to Nettleton to open playoffs

The Winona slow-pitch softball team will be on the road Saturday for a best-of-three series with Nettleton in the opening round of the Class II payoffs for 3A and 4A schools. Winona finished fourth in Region 2 and Nettleton is the champion of Region 3.

Jaguars seeking improvement

Ben Burton decided over a week ago that it was time to change and simplify the way things were being done concerning his J.Z. George football team.

Burton went from the pistol formation to the I-formation on offense and has moved several players around in the backfield, which means young players have been inserted into the lineup.
