Strong finish powers Rebels to 50-13 win

After losing in double overtime to Winona Christian the week before, the Carroll Academy Rebels came out slow against Oak Hill on Friday night.

But while the Rebels may have started slow, they finished strong.

The Rebels scored on four straight possessions to start the second half and cruised to a 50-13 win over Oak Hill.

Jags host Eupora in district contest

It's crunch time for the J.Z. George football team.

Even though the state playoffs don't start until Nov. 8, the Jaguars' playoff hopes could very well hinge on the outcome of Friday's home contest against Eupora High School.

Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. in North Carrollton at Farris Jenkins Field.

WCS takes title in 2nd overtime

In an overtime game with a district championship on the line, it was a battle of two star-studded quarterbacks on Friday night when Winona Christian took on Carroll Academy.

In one corner, Winona had gun-slinging eighth grader John White while Carroll had hard-charging Morgan Mims.

Holly, Durham run well for Tigers

JACKSON – Carson Holly and Noah Durham turned in strong performances for the Winona boys cross country team at the MC Watson Ford Invitational meet at Choctaw Trails.

Running in a strong field on the same course where the state meet is held, Holly finished fifth with a time of 18:23.82 for 5,000 meters. That is his personal best.
