Other than us anticipating a magnificent stupendous Christmas Holiday we also celebrate three grandson's birthdays in the month of December, our oldest, our next to oldest, and one of our triplets. It just makes everything special and "amped" up to so much to mark with happy times. I've told them many times that it's just not fair to have a birthday so close to Christmas as they usually get birthday presents wrapped in Christmas paper. And, sometimes one of the Santa gifts will be a birthday gift.
It has been several years since we have had the excitement of "waiting for Santa” or listening for the landing of the reindeer feet on the roof, or hearing the bells tied to his big red sleigh. The boys have grown up at an amazing speed and we have certainly enjoyed the best Holiday of all, but something was just amiss after the Santa Claus adventure. No slipping around hiding gifts, threatening the mischievous deeds with Santa's visit, and no uncontrolled excitement of THE MORNING. But, this year, this year, we have been blessed with that enthusiasm and eagerness once again. Our little Emmie Jo is three and so full of the thrilling adventure of the big visit from the Big Man in Red. She has emptied her stocking several times until I realized this would be a mission for me a few minutes before she is free to dig into the red stocking with the white reindeer. We have so much hidden around our house, and it's not spacious by any means, and I surely hope I am able to find all the hidden treasure before the big day.
Oh, and the little red Elves that come to visit at Thanksgiving and leave Christmas Eve night as they go home with Santa, they’re here now. Her mama is very imaginative with the Elf adventures and she has to come and see mine every morning so I too have to be somewhat creative to keep her entertained. She realizes her elves are magic and you can't touch but she decided that my Buddy can be moved and carried around with my long handled "reaching pole with the gripper on the end".
Now after her visits, I have to hunt the little red pixie as she too is very inventive. I found him one day this week in side my cookie jar hiding from the grinch.
I remember and ponder the times that I have been asked, "Meme, is there really a Santa Claus? How could he get around the whole earth in only one night and how could he always know just what we want for Christmas?" This is a conundrum that is faced by all mamas and daddies at some time in their children's maturing lives. Some big mouthed downer has told them at school that Santa isn't real and the seed of doubt is planted. Always such a sad day for me.
I have and will always refer back to the writing of Francis Church in the year of 1897. He was asked by a little eight year old, Virginia, was there really a Santa Claus? He answered this way, "Yes, Virginia, your little friends are wrong. There is a Santa Claus." I borrow from Church with this last line and tell you I believe in Santa Claus. "Ah, Virginia, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding. NO Santa Claus! Thank God! he lives and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood."
Merry Christmas my friends from all the Sims and from the Circle S Farms.
