Robert “Bob” Acker Taylor passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025. He was born February 12, 1939, and lived in Carroll County most of his life.
Bob graduated from J.Z. George High School and later raised his family in Cleveland, where he lived for thirty years. He retired in 2000 from his business, Taylor’s Air Conditioning and Heating. Known as a man of integrity, Bob built his life around hard work, family, and faith.
A devoted Christian, Bob loved his Lord and Savior. While living in Cleveland, he was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for twelve years. In 1992, he joined Malmaison Baptist Church in Carrollton, where he continued to serve as a deacon and faithfully drove the church bus for 24 years. He found great joy in ensuring children could be part of the church family.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney B. Taylor and Hassie Fant Taylor; his wife of 48 years, Shirley Heffner Taylor; sisters Ruth Taylor McKnight, Mary Taylor Ashmore, and Joyce Taylor Gorman; and brothers Sidney B. “S.B.” Taylor Jr., John Washington “Jack” Taylor, Benjamin “Ben” L. Taylor, Edward “Peck” Fant Taylor, Harry Lee Taylor, and Patrick “Pat” Neal Taylor.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Holeman Taylor, His brother, Mabry Joe Taylor; his children, Robert “Bobby” A. Taylor, Jr. (Marjorie) of Alexandria, LA, Angela “Angie” Renee Taylor Carpenter (Warren) of Brandon, and Tanya Paige Taylor (Jack) of Madison; stepsons Trenton Allen King (Barbara) of Kosciusko and Bradley “Brad” Everett King (Georgiana) of Grenada; and stepdaughters Tammy Lynn Strahan (Timmy) of Vaiden and Candace “Candy” Renee Robertson (Chad) of Hernando. He also leaves behind grandchildren Caitlin Carpenter, Spencer Taylor, Lauren Taylor, Joseph Taylor, and Jacob Taylor, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be nephews Chad Killabrew, Chad McKnight, Bubba Ashmore, Trey Taylor, Blake Henson, Miles Rainey, Tyler Thornton, and stepson Brad King. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Malmaison Baptist Church, as well as all of his nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Malmaison Baptist Church in Carrollton on Friday, September 12, at 10 a.m., followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. with burial following at the Malmaison Cemetery. Rev. Elbert McKnight and Bro. Eddie Carpenter will officiate the services.
