You can’t see it.
But you can feel it.
And you can see the effects of it.
I always have loved the wind! As a child my favorite time to play outside and run around with my arms up and hair blowing around my face was during the wind before a storm.
I could feel the electric excitement of nature moving! The heat was abated. I felt energized and as the sky changed colors it seemed anything was possible for me.
I often dream I can fly. Flying seems so natural and easy. The wind blows strongly, but not dangerously in waves. I run and lift my arms and suddenly I am off the ground and riding the surge of wind below me as I am propelled over the earth and grass and hills into the blue, blue sky, I look down in wonder as I ride one air current after another far, far away.
When I could ride a bike, I was enthralled with riding with the wind behind my back and seeming to sail along effortlessly. I rode and rode before the thunderstorms.
Then when my dad got a horse for me to ride, I named him Moose, and he became my constant, daily companion. When he ran and I felt the wind rush around us, his white mane blowing back in my face, his hooves pounding like my heart; I was happy. I felt carefree and in control and out of control at the same time—-again plunging into the wind.
Then I grew up and Moose passed away. Traveling from Japan to Okinawa my boat was caught in a hurricane when we were trying to dock. The wind tossed our boat into the other boats in the harbor! Windows clashed, cracked, and broke shattering glass diamonds on us all. Since announcements were in Japanese, I was less than informed. I did what the other passengers did. I prepared to disembark following in line. Carrying my bag as I approached the door to the outside to go to the entry building, I noticed the trees were bent over and waving madly in the air. Employees of the ship company were in line holding onto us as we disembarked, handing us to the next employee in line to keep us from blowing away, as we made progress to the safely of the building. WIND! In its powerful form. . .
We can’t understand all about the Holy Spirit of God. The Bible uses wind to describe people who are born of the Holy Spirit in John 3:8. “The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
Better than flying!
To be born of the Holy Spirit of God and have Him in your life!!
