During the regular legislative session of 2021, the Senate Finance Committee under the leadership of Senator Josh Harkins (R) Flowood/Chairman, sponsored SB-2971 authorizing bonds for various infrastructure projects across Mississippi.
Chairman Karl Oliver (R) Winona, negotiated with the House Ways and Means Chairman Trey Lamar (R) Senatobia, adding an additional $500K to SB-2971 for the improvements recently completed on four downtown Carrollton streets with College Street being the largest part of the project. The other streets were Green, Jackson, and Lexington.
Mayor Lee and the Carrollton Board of Aldermen are to be commended for their role, getting this project across the finish line for the people of Carrollton and the students of Carroll Academy.
