After a tough start to the season, the Carroll Academy baseball team rebounded with a pair of run-rule wins last week.
The Rebels beat Deer Creek 12-2 on Tuesday and then beat no-hit Benton 17-0 on Friday.
Carroll was scheduled to play at Deer Creek on Monday and then host Delta on Tuesday. They are scheduled to finish the week on Friday at Calhoun.
Carroll 12, Deer Creek 2
The Rebels used a pair of four-run innings to take a five-inning, run-rule win over Deer Creek on Tuesday.
Carroll scored four runs in the first, followed by single runs in the second and third, and then finished with four in the fourth and two in the fifth.
Carrol had nine hits, drew five walks and took advantage of four errors and three hit batters. Reid Blaylock was 3-for-3 with two doubles, two runs scored and four RBIs. Ryan Logan was 2-for-2 with two walks, three runs scored and two RBIs. Jake Truitt singled and drove in two runs while Ethan Mims was 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.
Logan started on the mound and pitched 4 2/3 innings and gave up two unearned runs on two hits and two walks while striking out nine. Lofton Holly pitched 1/3 of an inning as well.
Carroll 17, Benton 0
The Rebels didn’t give up a hit and needed just four innings to take a run-rule win over the Raiders on Friday.
Carroll scored two in the first and then scored six runs in the second and third innings. The Rebels finished with three runs in the fourth inning to take the win.
Carroll had 15 hits in the contest. Brennan Blaylock was 3-for-4 with four runs scored while Reed Thomas was 3-for-3 and scored two runs. Ryan Logan was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs while Jake Pruitt was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Lofton Holly was 2-for-2 with a double and three runs scored. Maddox Carpenter doubled, scored twice and drove in three runs while Reid Blaylock singled and drove in two runs. Brandon McKenzie also singled, had two stolen bases and scored two runs.
Ethan Mims started on the mound and pitched three innings, giving up just three walks while striking out five. Blaylock pitched the final inning and struck out three.
