The Carroll Academy baseball team took two out of three games from Oak Hill last week to begin district play.
The Rebels won Game 1 of the series 14-2 before falling 11-1 in Game 2. In the rubber match, the Rebels rallied to take a 9-7 win over the Raiders to take the series win.
Carroll improves to 6-7 on the season and 2-1 in district play. The Rebels will return to district play this week as they play Canton in a three-game series. Game 1 will be Tuesday at Canton while Game 2 will be Thursday at Carroll. Game 3 will return to Canton on Friday.
Carroll 14, Oak Hill 2
The Rebels used two big innings and took a four-inning, run-rule win on Tuesday.
Carroll scored six in the third and eight in the fourth.
The Rebels had 14 hits in the contest, as Jake Truitt was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs while Reed Thomas was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Hayes White was 2-for-3 and scored two runs while Rhett Blaylock was 2-for-2 with a double. Reece Jordan was 2-for-2 while Reid Blaylock doubled and drove in two runs. C.J. McDonald tripled and drove in two runs while Parker Daves singled and drove in two runs.
Reid Blaylock pitched all four innings and gave up two runs on six innings while striking out three.
Oak Hill 11, Carroll 1
The Raiders took advantage of five errors and six walks as they took a five-inning, run-rule win over the Rebels on Thursday to even the series.
Oak Hill scored four in the first and five in the fourth with single runs in the third and fifth. Carroll scored its lone run in the first.
Carroll had just four hits, all singles by Jake Truitt, Hayden Hopkins, Parker Daves and Reese Jordan.
Hayes White started and pitched 3 1/3 innings, giving up 10 runs on six his and four walks. Nick White pitch the last inning for the Rebels.
Carroll 9, Oak Hill 7
The Rebels overcame an early deficit and took a two-run win over the Raiders to take the series on Friday.
Oak Hill scored two in the first, three in the third and one in the top of the fourth and led 6-1. Carroll then responded with three in the bottom of the fourth and five in the fifth to lead 9-6.
Each team had 10 hits in the contest and the Rebels drew seven walks. Jake Truitt was 2-for-2 with three RBIs while Reed Thomas as 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Rhett Blaylock was 2-for-3 while Hayden Hopkins walked twice and scored two runs.
Thomas started on the mound and pitched five innings, giving up six runs on nine hits while striking out nine to get the win. Parker Daves pitched two innings and gave up one run to get the save.
