In a significant demonstration of community support, Jeremy Black, owner of Parker Wrecker Service, has made a generous donation of safety equipment to the Winona Fire Department. At the April 1 City of Winona Board of Aldermen meeting, Fire Chief Barrett Johnson shared the news with evident appreciation.
“This week we had a very nice donation made at the fire department,” Chief Johnson informed the Board and attendees.
The donated items include eight cooling vests for firefighters to wear under their turnout gear during the summer months, along with patching kits, all-natural absorbent for petroleum spills, chemical spray for fuel spills, and an EV fire blanket specifically designed to combat the challenges posed by electric vehicle fires - an increasingly important capability as electric vehicles become more common on the roads.
“We very much appreciate this,” Chief Johnson said.
Black’s contribution extends well beyond this donation. As a volunteer firefighter, currently completing the volunteer program, he has become an invaluable member of the team. His contribution of professional resources has greatly benefited the department as well.
“Any time that we need vehicles for extrication classes, he provides all of that,” Chief Johnson emphasized. “He’s a great asset to the department.”
Black’s generous donations and dedicated service demonstrate his commitment to the community.
“I’m glad to be a part of this crew,” Black stated.
