Mr. William Earl “Monk” Griffin, 84, of Grenada, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2020 at his daughter’s residence in Hernando.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Spring Hill Cemetery near Grenada with Rev. Phillip Cook officiating.
He was born January 17, 1936 in Calhoun City to James Holman and Myrtle Crowley Griffin. Mr. Griffin honorably served our country in the US Air Force for over 21 years. He also worked night security for Universal Steel in Grenada and at both sale barns in Grenada and Winona for over 20 years.
Survivors include four daughters, Candice A. Jordan of Caledonia, Monica Holland of Hernando, Lisa Mitchell(Bert) of Winona, and Cynthia Griffin of Calhoun City; two sons, William Earl “Billy” Griffin, Jr. and Scott Griffin(Heather) both of Grenada; two sisters, Nell Dabney(Elmer) of Hernando and Judy Gillis(Allen) of Grenada; one brother, Bob Griffin(Inette) of Millbrook, Ala.; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beatrice Griffin; brother, James “Sonny” Griffin and a granddaughter, Mercedes Sellers.
Pallbearers will be Allen Gillis, Tim Gillis, Christopher Griffin, Matthew Griffin, Bert Mitchell, J.R. Sellers and Jason Simmons.
