Vincent Ignatius Saia, Sr.
Vincent Ignatius Saia, Sr., 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2020.
A memorial service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Winona on ¬¬¬Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 1 p.m.
A resident of Winona for nearly 60 years, he was born to Carmelo Saia and Grace D’Aquila Saia on December 31, 1939 in Indianola. Vince graduated from Indianola High School and attended Sunflower Community College (now Mississippi Delta Community College) where he studied Building Technology.
Vince lived a full life as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and friend. He and Ann married and moved to their new hometown of Winona in 1960 where he served the community with all his heart. In 1968, Vince started his construction company, Vince Saia Contractors. He built and remodeled houses, commercial properties and tennis courts. Vince and Ann added a local favorite, Pizza Inn, to their family’s business portfolio in 2004. Revitalization of his hometown was always a top priority. In addition to spending time with his family, tennis was Vince’s favorite pastime.
Vince was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Winona. He served in the Mississippi National Guard and was involved in the Winona Rotary Club and American Legion.
Vince was married for 60 years to the love of his life, Ann Weeks Saia. He is survived by his five children – Theresa Saia Wilcutt (Buddy) of Bartlett, Tenn., Sheila Saia of Ridgeland, Stephanie Saia O’Guinn (Angelo) of Orangevale, Ca., Vince Saia, Jr. of Collierville, Tenn. and Christy Saia Henderson (Chip) of Flowood. He is also survived by his eleven grandchildren – Brett Wilcutt, Wright Morman, Abby Wilcutt Bowden, Kristen Morman Flores, Parker Saia, Rachel Henderson, Annabelle Saia, McKenzie Henderson, Sam Saia, Regan Henderson, and Joseph Saia; and seven great-grandchildren – Jack Paradise, Johnny Wilcutt, Mollie Kate Bowden, Waylon Morman, Paxton Flores, Baker Bowden and Keller Rose Morman. Vince was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Rose Frances Saia Ware.
