Services for Sue (Mama) Brasel was held Sunday, July 23, 2017, at 3 p.m. at Williams and Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood.
Ms. Brasel, 85, died on Friday, July 21, 2017, at Golden Age Nursing Home in Greenwood. She was born on March 22, 1932, in Water Valley to the late Patrick and Lou Cosby McNamee and lived in the Itta Bena area for more than 61 years. She was a graduate of Water Valley High School. She worked for Leflore County High School in the cafeteria and worked for Fred’s Department Store for more than 24 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Itta Bena.
She is survived by her sons, J.D. Brasel, Jr. (Amy Gee) of Itta Bena and Ray Brasel (Suzanne) of Itta Bena; daughter, Alice Grimsley (Jeff Walker) of Carrollton; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmy D Brasel Sr.; five sisters; and two brothers.
Visitation was held on Sunday July 23, 2017, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev Higdon Herrington officiated the services with Bro. Laney Haley.
Pallbearers were Lynn Haley, Johnny Brasel, Trey Brasel, Clint Evans, T.J. Evans, and Eli Belk. Honorary pallbearers were Johnathan Gee, Cam Belk, Dr. Kenneth Hines, Tommy Hargrove, and Tommy Evans. Burial will be in Itta Bena Cemetery.
