Shirlene Newson Young, 80, of Itta Bena died Monday, February 26, 2018, at Grace Health and Rehabilitation in Grenada.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home, and visitation was from 12 p.m. until service time. Interment followed at Magnolia Gardens in Paynes. Rev. Higdon Herrington officiated.
Mrs. Young was born January 24, 1938, to Lee H. Newsom and Rebecca Worsham Newsom in Cascilla. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Itta Bena where she taught Sunday school. She was a homemaker and loved yard work. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lex Anne Trotter and her parents.
She is survived by her husband, George Carroll Young of Grenada; daughter, Shea Salley and husband John of Grenada; son, George Mark Young and wife Jeannie of Byram; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
