Rodney Mitchell Tackett, 50, of Coila, died Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at his residence.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, April 19 at Williams & Lord Funeral Home and continue Saturday 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. David Haggerty will officiate.
Rodney was born to William Tackett and Delores Acy Tackett on March 10, 1969 in Greenwood. He graduated from Covington High School in Covington, La., in 1988. He was a devout LSU football fan, enjoyed woodworking, and loved to cook for his family and friends. He worked in the family business, Acy’s Grocery, for 29 years, and established The Hilltop Restaurant in 1998.
He is preceded in death by his mother.
He is survived by his father, William J. Tackett of Greenwood; brothers, Reggie Tackett and wife Sandy of Mandeville, La., and Randy Tackett and wife Beth of Greenwood; nephews, Cody Tackett and wife Lisa of Vicenza, Italy, Dalton Tackett of Mandeville, La., John Hollis, and Sumner Tackett of Greenwood; niece, Caitlyn Thomas and husband Tyler of Thomas, La.; great nieces, Anna Kate, Addisyn, and Audrey Thomas, Carter and Chloe Tackett; and his beloved dog, Reese.
Pallbearers will be James Arnold, Ben Knight, Ricky Lee, Kyle McPherson, Jimbo Moore, Todd Stein, Greg Thigpen, and Bill Thornburg. Honorary pallbearers will be Colten Acy, Tucker Arnold, David Bratton, Jeff Clark, Malone Dunn, Bo Ellis, James Locke, Tony McCluskey, Chris Robinson, and Billy Tate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mt. Olive Cemetery Fund, 6587 CR 23, Coila, MS 38923 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
