Mary Frances Montgomery Tingle, 87, passed away Monday, November 13, 2017, at Willow Creek Nursing Home in Byram.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2017, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 18 in the funeral home chapel with a one-hour visitation prior to service time. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Carrollton at 2 p.m.
Mrs. Tingle was born in Carroll County to the late Mycle Montgomery and Essie Loree Narmour Montgomery. She was a longtime resident of the Jackson area and member of Parkhill Baptist Church. She taught children’s Sunday School, served as church clerk, treasurer, and sang in the choir.
Mrs. Tingle was also a Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star. She loved to quilt, sew, can, and was a wonderful cook. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend to many, was known for her selflessness, and always taking care of the sick and elderly in the church—she loved her church family dearly.
Mrs. Tingle was lovingly called “GG”, grandmother and MawMaw by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and “Sister” by her siblings.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Samuel “Son” Tingle and her brother Buddy Montgomery.
Survivors include her son, Sam Tingle (Susan) of West Monroe, La.; daughters, Wanda Lott (Keith) of Summit, Melinda Saranthus (Richard) of Byram; brothers, James Roy Montgomery (Becky) of Greenville and Ray Montgomery (Charlotte) of Carrollton; sisters, Nell Whitfield (C.D.) of Carrollton, Shirley Clark (Ted) of Vaiden and Polly Acey (Buddy) of Carrollton; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
