Marguree Vance Ashmore, 95, passed away Monday October 30, 2017, at Indywood Glen in Greenwood.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday November 1, 2017, at Greenwood Funeral Home with interment in Longview Cemetery in Carroll County. Rev. Lanny Haley officiated.
Mrs. Ashmore was born in Carroll County to Alfred and Nora Ferguson Vance and had been a longtime resident of the Greenwood and Carroll county area. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She had formerly served for many years a church secretary for Mayersville Baptist Church.
Mrs. Ashmore was an accomplished seamstress and was known for stitching together fine garments for all the ladies of the family and community. She was also a devoted caregiver for several family members. Marguree was also known for her fabulous cooking. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold J. Ashmore and her siblings, Jack Vance, Wade Vance, Waymon Vance, Estee McNeer and Warrene Scruggs.
She is survived by a daughter, Geraldine A. Naron (William) of Carroll County; her brother; Kermit Vance (Barbara) of Sardis, two granddaughters; Anna Naron Yates of Carroll County and Beth Naron Little of Flowood,; four grandchildren; Kaitlyn Yates of Hattiesburg, Naron Yates of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., Lauren Little of Southaven, Landon Little, a United States Marine; and three great great-grandchildren, Makenzie Yates, Charlotte Little and Beau Bougere.
Pallbearers were Naron Yates, Hunter Ruby, Ricki Linyard, and Skipper Scruggs. Landon Little will be an honorary pallbearer.
Visitation was Tuesday evening from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Funeral Home.
