Funeral services for Joseph Edward "Joe" Evans of Winona were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 30, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery near Winona. Rev. John Jacks officiated the services, assisted by Mr. Charles Evans.
Visitation was Saturday, July 29, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home; and on Sunday, from 2 p.m. until service time, at the funeral home.
Mr. Evans, 72, died in a motor vehicle accident on Wednesday, July 26, in Eutaw, Ala. He was born in Winona on January 13, 1945, to Willie Clyde and Lois Montgomery Evans. He was retired, enjoyed gardening, and was devoted to his family. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Brenda Goldman Evans; sister, Martha Wright; and brothers, Earl Evans and Carl Evans.
Mr. Evans is survived by his daughter, Laurie Evans Rawles (Ricky) of Winona; his son, Joey Evans (Angela) of Winona; his sister, Kathy McLaughlin of Winona; and four grandchildren, Haley and Ty Evans and Allie and Sara Beth Rawles.
Pallbearers were Carl Amason, Myron Braswell, Tommy Rushing, Michael Rubio, James Dendy, and Terry Braswell. Honorary pallbearers were Cecil Kirk, Clint Tompkins, Walter Oliver, and Bobby Oliver.
