John Baker Aldridge, 70, of Greenwood, died Sunday, Oct. 14 at Greenwood-Leflore Hospital. Visitation is 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home with Wilson & Knight Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
John was born Jan. 19, 1948 in Greenwood, to Jack Paxton Aldridge, Jr. and Lillian Pillow Aldridge. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and the University of Mississippi where he played football. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Greenwood. He served as a member of the Greenwood City School Board for many years and served in the U.S. Army Reserves 173rd. He was owner of Mid-South Sporting Goods and Four-Rivers Tackle Company.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marie Barranco Aldridge of Greenwood; two sons, Brad Aldridge and wife Ellie and Lee Aldridge and wife McCall all of Hernando; and three grandchildren, Libby Aldridge, Hollyn Aldridge, and Evie Aldridge.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Mike Carter, Kirk Carter, Alan Carter, Dale Pillow, Bob Pillow, and George Pillow. Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Pillow and Emmett Chassaniol.
Military rites will be conducted by Kessler-Hamrick –Gillespie American Legion Post 29. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
