Jerry Lamar Mitchell, 70 of Foley, Alabama, formerly of Winona died at his residence on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
Visitation was from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Hope United Methodist Church in Winona, and burial followed in the church cemetery. Rev. John Lumbley, assisted by Rev. Sam Dodd, officiated the service.
Mr. Mitchell was born in Winona on August 11, 1948, and was a retired supervisor for Mississippi Valley Gas Company. He was a 1968 graduate of Winona High School and a 1970 graduate of Holmes Junior College. Mr. Mitchell was a member of the Sons of American Legion Post #99 in Foley, Ala. and a volunteer for South Baldwin Medical Center in Foley. He was a member of Summerdale Church of Christ in Summerdale, Ala.
Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his father, T. L. Mitchell; and his sister, Brenda K. Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda P. Mitchell of Foley, Ala.; daughter, Terri Jewitt of Fairhope, Ala.; his mother, Mareece Johnson, a sister, Patsy Cade (Bill), two brothers, Phil Johnson and Kenny Johnson, all of Winona; his grandchildren, Laken and Chase Stallworth; and his son-in-law, Ken Stallworth of Fairhope, Ala.
Pallbearers were Phil Johnson, Ken Stallworth, Chase Stallworth, Johnnie King, John Cummings, and Bobby Joe Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to New Hope Cemetery Fund, 504 Jones Street, Winona, MS 38967.
