Jane Randle Johnson, 88, of Canton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2018 after a short illness.
A private ceremony was held Sunday, Aug. 12 and burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Winona and Rev. John Kramer officiated the graveside service. Lee Funeral Home in Winona was in charge of arrangements.
She was born on October 11, 1929 in Winona to Lamar W. and Claudia Ware Randle. She was raised in Winona and lived there until her late 20s.
Jane was a graduate of Delta State University and taught school at Friars Point and Kilmichael. After marrying Kermit Johnson of Carrollton, she relocated to Memphis, Tennessee.
She was a true daughter of the South, living in Athens, Georgia; Olive Branch; and most recently, Canton, Ga. She was active in many churches, including Moore Memorial United Methodist in Winona, Colbert United Methodist Church in Colbert, Ga., and Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Nesbit. She was instrumental in starting the youth choir in Colbert, and was an active member in all her congregations. Jane was known as a kind and generous soul, who willingly helped others.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters; and one brother.
Jane is survived by her daughter, Kathy Windon and son-in-law, James Windon, of Canton, Ga. and her granddaughter, Melissa Windon of Overland Park, Kansas.
