GREENWOOD -- James Roy “Jimmy’ Serio, 60, passed away Sunday evening Jan. 7, 2018 at Baptist Hospital in Oxford. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Odd Fellows East Cemetery. Bro. Benny Rigby will officiate.
Jimmy was a native and lifelong resident of Greenwood. He was a retired dispatcher with the Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop D with 26 years of service. He had also served 26 years in the U.S. Army reserve 173rd Quartermaster Corps and was a veteran of Desert Storm. He had more recently worked for Helena Chemical Company. Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman who loved to deer hunt. He attended Calvary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Tullos Serio; a daughter, Brittney Serio Sims (Landon); two sisters, Mary Sue Serio, Linda Adell Osbourne, a brother; Johnny Serio, Jr. (Vivian) all from Greenwood, two nieces; Lindsey Serio of Greenwood, Haley Leggett Guntharp, a nephew; Trey Leggett and a great-nephew; Grayden Guntharp, all of New Albany.
Pallbearers will be Arch Howell, Larry Taylor, John Walker Brooks, Jimmy Sandling, John David Teal, Barry McDonald, Lynn Hales and J. B. McDonald. Honorary pallbearers will be Stick Young, Tommy Pannell, Willie Branch, Ken DuBard, John Sheffield, Abel Ezell, Lynn Haley, Shane Huff and James Glen.
