Mr. James Earle Hicks, 83, of Vaiden died at the Martha Jo Leslie State Veterans Home in Kosciusko on Thursday, November 22.
Visitation was from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, on Monday, Nov. 26, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel and burial followed in Hebron Cemetery near Vaiden. Rev. Bobby Palmertree officiated the services.
Mr. Hicks was born in Manila, Ark., on June 9, 1935, to Virgil and Margarite Vaughn Hicks. Mr. Hicks was a retired mechanic and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Joe Wayne and Josie Hicks; one sister; and four
Survivors include his wife, Marie Hicks of Vaiden; daughters, Donna Palmertree Lewis (Bobby Ray) of Terry and Peggy Ann Lauersdorf of Alexandria, La.; sons, Rev. Bobby Palmertree (Janice) of Winona and Jimmy Hicks of Houston, Texas; sister, Judith Mayatte of Greenville; three brothers, Raymond Hicks of Greenville, Bob Hicks of Senatobia, and Gene Hicks of Brandon; and a number of
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers were Bradley Ray Sanders, Johnny Burrell, Joe Joe Mann, Bobby Brown, Cole McCorkle, and Keith McCorkle.
