Graveside services for Mr. James E. "Jim" Stanford of French Camp were at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Fulton, with Rev. Don Smith officiating. Visitation was Saturday, January 6, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Stanford, 89, died at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus on Wednesday, January 3. He was born in Guin, Alabama, on October
18, 1928, to Guy and Nola Irvin Stanford. He was a retired self-employed welder. Mr. Stanford was a Mason and attended Poplar Creek Baptist Church. In addtion to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, LaRue Stanford; sisters, Opal Ward and Elouise
Braswell; and a brother, John Stanford. Mr. Stanford is survived by his daughter, Diane "Sissy" Ansley; sons, Brent Stanford (Priscilla) and Guy Stanford (Judy); stepsons, Dannie Barnes (Rita) and Donald Barnes; sisters, Betty Sue Chesteen, Andrea Armstrong, and Shirley Watts; a brother, David Stanford; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Vernon Cemetery Fund. Oliver Funeral Home of Winona (www.ofhwinona.com) handled the arrangements.
