Death came quickly to the home of Herman Cole on Monday, January 28, 2018. He was truly “one-of-a-kind.” His love for people could be seen just like his shadow on a bright sunny day.
He was born May 4, 1940, the eighth child to Eugene and Elnora Bailey in the Egypt Community.
He received his education from Okolona Schools and Mississippi Valley State University. He was a dedicated social studies teacher for 32 years at Marshall Elementary School. Not knowing the definition of retirement, he worked with Ingram Ship Yard in Pascagoula and Carroll-Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility for the last 12 years, and repaired appliances for those in need.
His love will remain in the hearts of his children, Cassandra Whirl, Wynetta Walker (Jeremy) and Daryl Weathers; sisters, Minerva Grayson, Katherine Yont (Dan), Evenly Townsend, Ollie Jetter, and Warzella Gillespie; brothers, Eugene Bailey, Jr., (Callie), Willie C. Bailey, Warren Bailey (Patricia), Harlin Bailey, William E. Bailey (Naomi), Lennon Bailey; and beloved grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thurs, Feb. 8, at Williams Memorial in Okolona from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and in Carrollton at Bear Marsh M.B. Church, Fri., February 9 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. A memorial will be held from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m.
