Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Costilow Pullen Carpenter of Winona were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the New Hope Methodist Cemetery near Winona. Rev. John L. Walker officiated the services.
Pallbearers were Michael Castle, Jason Castle, Zac Castle, Scott Pullen, Brian Pullen, Michael Castle III, and Cole Castle; and honorary pallbearers were Wyatt Castle and Owen Pullen.
Visitation was at the funeral home on Wednesday, from noon until service time.
Mrs. Carpenter, 88, died on Saturday, March 24, at Winona Manor in Winona, where she had resided for the last several years. She was born in Winona on November 18, 1929, to Willie and Elouise Blaylock Costilow, and lived all her life in Winona. She was a homemaker and
a former employee of McGregor Manufacturing and also operated a grocery store. Mrs. Carpenter was a member of First Baptist Church in Winona, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Pullen; daughters, Patricia Pullen Bartlett and Beverly Pullen Castle; son, Lee Pullen; sister, Betty Costilow McCrary; and brother, Billy Costilow.
Mrs. Carpenter is survived by her sons, Buddy Pullen (Peggy) of Marietta, Ga., and Nathan Pullen of Water Valley; sister, Jeanette Costilow Pyron of Winona; brother, Jimmy Costilow of Winona; five grandsons, Michael Castle (Ashley), Jason Castle, Zac Castle (Olivia), Scott Pullen, and Brian Pullen (Elissa); and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
