Funeral services for Geneva M. “Jenny” Cox of Vaiden were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, at Vaiden Baptist Church in Vaiden. Services were officiated by Rev. Leon Holly and Rev. David Westmoreland, and burial followed at Vaiden Cemetery. The family received friends on Tuesday, from 9 a.m. until service time, at the church.
Mrs. Cox, 92, died at her home in Vaiden on Friday, May 11. She was born in Kansas on March 22, 1926. She was a retired salesperson in retail ladies clothing and a faithful member of Vaiden Baptist Church.
Mrs. Cox is survived by her husband, James A. Cox of Vaiden; three daughters, Abigail Cox Kohler of Madisonville, La., Amy Sue Cox of Elkhart, Ind., and Lisa Cox Luckett of Greenville; one son, Matthew Gambal Cox of Henderson, Nev.; one brother, Jimmy Rapp of Texas; 13 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Anne Cox; and her parents, Donald Rapp and Edith Stone Elsten.
Pallbearers were Dennis Dean, Jimmy Webb, Charles Hull, Billy Joe Ferguson, Clint Tompkins, and Drew Lenard. Honorary pallbearers were members of the J.C. McWorther Sunday school Class.
The family request that memorials be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
