Francine Barrentine McElroy of Poplar Creek were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Winona, with Rev. Billy Little officiating. Pallbearers were Cameron Miller, Carter McElroy, Truman Baggett, Brett Lane, Tommy Curtis, and Brian Curtis.
Visitation was Saturday, March 7, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. McElroy, 82, passed away at Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood on Thursday, March 5. She was born in Poplar Creek on December 30, 1937, to Henry Gray and Lora Ida Morehead Barrentine. She was a homemaker and a member of Hebron Baptist Church near Poplar Creek. Mrs. McElroy was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband, O. D. McElroy.
Survivors include her daughter, Debby McElroy Curtis of Ackerman; two sons, Glenn McElroy of Vaiden and Jerry McElroy of Poplar Creek; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Burial was in the North Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Kilmichael.
