Edwin “Peck” Fant Taylor, 84, of Glen St Mary, Fla., passed away at his home on January 23, 2018, surrounded by loving family.
He was born January 12, 1934, in Carrollton to the late Sidney B. Taylor Sr. and Hassie Mae Fant Taylor. Edwin married the love of his life, Sarah Ashmore, and together they raised five amazing children. He enjoyed a career in Air Product Sales and Maxwell House Coffee before retiring in 1995. Edwin was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and coaching football. His favorite team to watch was Mississippi State. Edwin loved telling stories about his life and spending time with his family.
He is predeceased by his parents Sidney and Hassie Mae Taylor; daughter, Freda Wiggins; brothers, Sidney Jr, Jack, Ben, Harry, and Pat; sisters, Ruth McKnight, Mary Ashmore, and Joyce Gorman.
Edwin is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Sarah Ashmore Taylor of Glen St. Mary, Fla.; children, Cathy (Bobby) Forsyth of Jacksonville, Fla., , Bonnie (Terry) Murphy of Hilliard, Fla., Eddie (Glynnis) Taylor of Carrollton, Penny (Mike) Bass of Jacksonville, Fla.; son-in-law, Mike Wiggins of Carrollton; brothers, Robert (Betty) Taylor of Carrollton and Marby (Sue) Taylor of Bixby, Okla.; nine grandchildren, Kristi Wiggins, Robbie Forsyth, Ashley Forsyth, Buddy Bass, Keri Bass, Danielle Bass, Jessica Cutillo, Tyler Murphy, and Trey Taylor; eight great grandchildren, Josh Wiggins, Chris Miller, Taylor Murphy, Stetson Cutillo, Brantley Bass, Brayson Bean, Jayson Bean, Faith Bass.
A Celebration of Edwin’s life was held Friday, January 26, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Donnie Williams officiating. Interment follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville. The family received friends Thursday, January 25, 2018, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
