Services for Edith Mae Elliott McCaleb Lindsey will be held Saturday, May 26, 2018, 2 p.m. at Williams & Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood.
Mrs. Lindsey, 87, died on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Golden Age Nursing Home.
She was born on March 30, 1931 in Durant to the late L. J. and Estelle Elliott and lived in Holmes County, until she married George W. McCaleb in 1948. They were married for 12 years before his death in 1960. She married Rev Luther Lindsey in 1977, and they were married 37 years. Mrs. Lindsey was a member of New Shiloh Baptist Church and retired from Greenwood Leflore Hospital after 14 years of service.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, George W. McCaleb and Rev. Luther F. Lindsey, and a daughter Nancy Carolyn McCaleb.
She is survived by her two sons, Mike (Donna) McCaleb of Wood Dale, Ill., and Eddie (Pam) McCaleb of Greenwood; two daughters, Georgia (Jerome) Wilkinson of Elizabethton, Tenn., and Lynne (Rick) Murphree of Tippo; stepchildren, Fred(Sandra) Lindsey of Cruger, Don(Zofia) Lindsey of Cleveland, Shelia Gonzalez of Petal, and brother, Charles Elliott of Carrollton; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 26, 2018, from noon to 2 p.m. at Williams and Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood. Rev George Mims officiated the services. Pallbearers were her grandchildren. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.
