Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Murff of Lafayette, Louisiana, formerly of McCarley, were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 25, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Winona Garden of Memory. Dr. David Sartin officiated the services. Pallbearers were Travis Murff, Mike Murff, Gene Ainsworth, Troy Ainsworth, Richard Murff, and Robert McBride.
Visitation was Monday at the funeral home, from 1 p.m. until service time.
Mrs. Murff, 92, died at her home on Thursday, June 21. She was born in Sunflower County, Mississippi, on November 26, 1925, to Wiley Turner and Lemmie Day Dewett. She was a retired caregiver and a member of Kilmichael Baptist Church in Kilmichael. Mrs. Murff was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, A. R. Murff; and several siblings.
Mrs. Murff is survived by three daughters, Ila Lindsey of Hattiesburg, Lynn Ainsworth of Lafayette, La., and Betty McLain of Glasgow, Ky.; three sons, Allen Murff of Breaux Bridge, La., Travis Murff of Lafayette, La., and Michael Murff of Lafayette, La.; two sisters, Joyce Toombs of Grenada and Dean Taylor of Mendenhall; one brother, Edward Dewett of Tupelo; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
