Dorothy Cox Switzer, 86, of Greenwood, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2018 at Golden Age Nursing Home.
Visitation was from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2018 at Williams & Lord Funeral Home and graveside service was held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec, 10, 2018 at Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Coila. Dr. Larry Cox will officiate.
Mrs. Switzer was born to Howard and Daisy Cox on July 12, 1932 in Carroll County. She attended First Baptist Church in Greenwood and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Greenwood. She worked for many years for Dr. William Jones, and she enjoyed helping the homebound. She was known by her grandchildren and great grandchildren as Dottee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Switzer, Sr., great-grandson, Phillip Ross Long, brother-in-law, Timothy W. Lott, Jr., and her parents.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Cox Pinkston and husband Andy of Greenwood.; grandchildren, Andrea Pinkston Mims and husband Will, Phillip Andrew Pinkston and wife Kitty, and Sara Corene Pinkston, all of Greenwood,; great-grandchildren, Richard Andrew Long, Thomas Rhyne Long, Mary Lusco Long, James Andrew Pinkston, and William Andrew Pinkston; sister, Shirley Cox Lott of Greenwood; brother, James “Pete” Cox and wife Dot of Greenwood; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Timmy Lott, Jimmy Lott, Danny Cox, Bubba Cox, Drew Pinkston, Buck Long, Thomas Long, and Will Mims.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. William Jones and the Golden Age Nursing Home Blue Wing Staff.
