Funeral services for Chester E. Hammond, Sr., of Winona were held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, in the Lizzie Sanders Memorial Chapel in Winona, with Pastor Kelvin Wright officiating. Burial followed in the North Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Kilmichael.
Visitation was from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday, February 26 at Sanders and Sanders Funeral Home in Winona and from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Tuesday. There was no viewing after the eulogy.
Mr. Hammond, 75, died on Monday, February 19, 2018, at the VA Medical Center in Jackson. A member of the Montgomery County road crew, Hammond was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam.
Hammond leaves his wife, Beluah George Hammond of Winona; daughter Barbetta Bays of Jackson; son Chester Hammond, Jr., of Winona; brothers, Mac Arthur Hammond, Willie E. Hammond, both of Winona, James L. Hammond of Memphis, Tenn., and John W. Hammond of Philadelphia, Penn.; and three grandchildren.
Sanders and Sanders Funeral Home of Winona was in charge of the arrangements.
