A memorial service for Mrs. Bonnie Chloe Hunt Colbert of Grenada will be held on Saturday, June 10, at 2 p.m., at Grenada First United Methodist Church. The service will be officiated by Linda Weir. It was Mrs. Colbert’s request that her body be donated to the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Medicine.
Mrs. Bonnie Colbert passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Grenada. She was born in Lawrence County, Ohio, on July 12, 1935, to Cecil Hunt and Lennie Brown Thompson. “Ms. Bonnie” loved and cared for many children while working at Freeman’s Little People’s Daycare. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Grenada.
She is survived by son, James E. Colbert Jr. and his wife, Bea, of Winona; daughter, Susan Colbert Miller and her husband, Jerry, of Grenada; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Colbert of Grenada; four grandchildren, Cale Colbert and his wife, Stephanie, of Winchester, Ky., Kayla Ivey and her husband, Reagan, of Grenada, Nicole Birdsong and her husband, Jacob, of Grenada, Gracie Colbert of Grenada; Two great grandchildren, James Lane Colbert and Jacob Wylie Colbert of Winchester, Kentucky, and sister, Cecilia Hunt Forbush and her husband, Charles, of Willow Wood, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bonnie Chloe Hunt Colbert was preceded in death by her husband, James Eugene Colbert Sr.; son, Christopher L. Colbert; stepmother, Eloise Van Meter Hunt; sisters, Louwilda “Billie” Paxton and Geri Aldridge; brothers, Robert Hunt, Milton Hunt, Lawrence “Tony” Hunt and Dan Hunt.
