Mr. Bodean Tompkins of Winona passed away at his home on Thursday, May 28, 2020.
A visitation was held on Sunday, May 31, from 1 p.m. until service time, at Oliver Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Reidis Nash and Rev. Sam Dodd officiating. Burial followed in the Winona Garden of Memory with military honors.
He was born in Montgomery County on August 3, 1931, and was 88 years old. Mr. Tompkins was a retired building maintenance supervisor and a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Winona. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Fox Tompkins; and his parents, W. E. and Nina Blanche Burns Tompkins.
Mr. Tompkins is survived by his daughters, Nina Ruth Welch (Dennis) of Grenada and Beth Harrison (Shane) of Kilmichael; three grandchildren, Chelsea Welch Bennett (Steven) of Oxford, Chandler Harrison of Kilmichael; and Kellum Harrison (Tyler Giles) of Kilmichael; two great-grandchildren, Vaiden Bennett and Merritt Bennett; and a host of cousins.
Ron Wood, Guy Johnson, Jeff Tompkins, Mac Burrell, Larry Bamberg, and Logan Chambley served as pallbearers; with Terry Thomas, Clint Tompkins, Danny Tompkins, Mike Tompkins, and Paul Tompkins serving as honorary pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to the New Hope United Methodist Church in Winona.
