Bobby Gene Knight, age 78, passed away at his home in Stewart surrounded by his family on Feb. 21, 2023. He was born May 14, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas to Charlie Ledell and Willie Frances Knight.
At the age of 2, he moved with his parents to Mississippi. He was a factory worker for 51 years at Wells Lamont Glove Factory and FlexSteel. Bobby was a member of Tomnolen Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching Mississippi State Bulldog football and basketball, playing the guitar and keyboard, and fishing. He cherished every minute spent with his wife and family. His family will always remember him as a loving husband, father and grandfather that had a contagious smile. He cherished every minute spent with his wife and family.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Debbie Knight; one sister, Jackie Stewart (Frank) two sons, Shane Knight (Angela) of Starkville, Scott Dean (Mary) of Stewart, Miss.; four daughters, Lisa Shaman (Chris), Teka Funderburk (Rick), Becky Griffith (Brian), and Kristi Dean; 17 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one special nephew Charlie Ray Stewart.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Ledell and Willie Frances Knight.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Feb. 25, 2023, at Tomnolen Baptist Church with interment and burial in Reed’s Chapel Cemetery in Stewart, Miss.
Visitation was at Wise-Reed Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Feb. 24, 2023. Officiating the service was Bro. Chance Parish.
Pallbearers are David Fair, Kenneth Hill, Eric Yeatman, Heath Yeatman, Joe Griffin and Travis Bankhead.
Wise Reed Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
