Billy Sanders passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at his home in Monroe, La.
A memorial service celebrating his life was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug.10, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, La. and Rev. Phillip Palmertree officiated. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
Billy was born in Memphis, Tenn. on November 11, 1942, and was the son of Benjamin Bernhard Sanders, Jr. and Louise Herring Sanders. He was married for 58 years to Shirley Ray Sanders.
Billy was a retired rural mail carrier and cattle farmer. He along with his son, Chad, formed a company creating all types of decorative concrete which still operates today.
He was an avid outdoorsman and an accomplished artist that created several different types of artwork that included portraits, paintings, and carvings. Billy was a Christian who enjoyed teaching Bible Classes for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Bernhard Sanders, Jr. and Louise Herring Sanders.
Survivors include his spouse, Shirley; three sons, Dr. Bohdi (Bill) Sanders of Loveland, CO, Russ Sanders of Bella Vista, Ark., and Chad Sanders of Monroe, La,; he leaves behind six grandchildren, Stephen and Colt Sanders of Ft. Collins, CO, Lindsey Baber and Jarrett Sanders of Tulsa, Okla., and Tyler and Mariah Sanders of Monroe, La.; and also, 6 great grandchildren.
