Graveside services for Mr. Billy A. Pinkston of Vaiden were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 26, at Hopewell Cemetery near Vaiden, with Rev. Philip McRae officiating. Visitation was Sunday, March 25, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Pinkston, 72, died at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson on Thursday, March 22, 2018. He was born on February 1, 1946, in Vaiden to George A. and Lera Minyard Pinkston. He was a retired timber buyer for Georgia Pacific and an avid outdoorsman. Mr. Pinkston was a member of Shongalo Presbyterian Church in Vaiden. He was a very good husband, father, and grandfather, and was devoted to his family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Pinkston is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Alford Pinkston of Vaiden; daughter, Lisa Pinkston Aldy (Kendall) of Yazoo City; son, Ricky A. Pinkston (Tammy) of Vaiden; sisters, Joyce Pinkston Layman of Vaiden and Hilda Marie Pinkston McCorkle (Pete) of Vaiden; five grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.
