Albert Abner Reaves

Albert Abner Reaves, 90, of Greenwood died on Saturday, October 21, 2017, peacefully at his home.  Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at the West President Church of Christ.  Visitation was from 1 p.m. until service time.  Mark Shiers officiated. 

Mr. Reaves was born on May 5, 1927, to Joseph Renfroe Reaves and Emma Styers Reaves.  He was a member of the West President Church of Christ where he served as an elder for 25 years.

He grew up in College Hill just outside Oxford.  He attended Lipscomb College and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.  He began his career climbing poles with Southern Bell in 1948 and retired from management in 1989.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Billy J. and Jackson Reaves; sisters, Sue King and Mollie Greene, and granddaughter, Emily Gurner. 

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ellanor Hedleston Reaves; sons, Woodie Reaves (Irene) of Terry and Windie Reaves (Carol) of Greenwood; daughters, Gaye Barnett of Brandon and Joye Reaves of Greenwood; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
