William Dell Ellis, Sr., 81, of Greenwood, died Sunday, July 28, 2024 at University Medical Center in Lexington. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, in Odd Fellows East Cemetery with visitation 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Williams & Lord Funeral Home. Bro. Wilton Neal officiated.
William was born November 26, 1942, in Tyler, Texas, to William Dewey Ellis and Verlene Slaton Ellis. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School, and he was a Baptist. He also was a pilot who loved to fly crop dusters. He enjoyed deer hunting, drag racing, and playing pool. He was preceded in death by his sister, Starlie Ellis, and his parents.
He is survived by his sons, Tracy Ellis of Coila, and William Dell Ellis, Jr. of Hernando; sister, Teresa Hunger of Jackson Hole, Wyo.; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Keefe Brewer, Breland Ellis, Gavin Ellis, Frank Holman, Austin Brewer, and Kevin Cook.
