Our mother, Peggy Osborn Curington, passed away peacefully at her home on August 26, 2024. She was 72. She was born to James and Ruby Osborn on August 22, 1952, and lived most of her life in Winona.
She began her 30-year nursing career at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital and is best remembered for her many years in the Labor and Delivery Department of Grenada Lake Medical Center.
Peggy loved crossword puzzles, anything yellow, and Hallmark movies. Most of all she loved her family. Our mother will always be remembered for her sense of humor, candor, and quick comebacks.
She spent many hours in the kitchen cooking for family gatherings and was the best cook we have ever known. While at Winona High School, she found her love for music as a member of The Raggedy Anns. Performing with this group on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour was one of her proudest and happiest memories. As her daughters, we are forever thankful that each of us inherited one of her talents.
She is survived by her two daughters, Chelsea Edwards (Thad) of Winona and Ashley Kestner of Dickson, Tenn.; Tony Kestner of Nashville, Tenn.; one brother, Allen Osborn (Betsy) of Mendenhall; grandchildren, Meghan Ramage (Austin), Mitch Stewart (Anna), Trey Kestner, Ruby Kestner; great-grandchildren, Baylee Ramage, Beckham Ramage, Mary Frances Stewart; nieces, nephews, cousins, and caretakers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bryant Curington; sister, Cheryl Osborn; and brother, Terry Osborn.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 29, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Oakwood Cemetery in Winona. The Rev. Trae Miller officiated the service. Pallbearers were Brett Osborn, Lee Hardy, Tyler Alldread, Thad Edwards, Brett McCrory, and Zac Case.
Visitation was held Wednesday, August 28, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Thursday, August 29, from 10 a.m. until service time at Oliver Funeral Home.
