Funeral services for Mr. John David Arendale, Sr. of New Albany, formerly of Winona, were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, with Military Honors, followed at 2 p.m. in Lehrton Cemetery in Ruleville. The Rev. Eddie Dodd officiated the services. Pallbearers were John Butler, Mike Rosamond, Eddie Dodd, Michael McBride, Billy Chesteen and Harvey Swindoll.
Visitation was held Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. until service time at Oliver Funeral Home.
John David Arendale, Sr., 76, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024, at his residence in New Albany. He was born in Marks, to Edward E. Arendale and Mary Beatrice Manley Arendale on Nov. 23, 1947. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Winona and the Winona Lions Club. He was a United States Vietnam War Veteran. Mr. Arendale was a retired store manager for SuperValu in Winona.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Mitchell Arendale of New Albany; daughter, Shellie Arendale Lohmeier of New Albany; son, John David Arendale, Jr. of Vaiden; sisters, Nina Hanson of Starkville and Tina Ray of Cleveland; brother, Rickie Steven Arendale of Greenville; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward E. Arendale; mother, Mary Beatrice Manley Arendale; and brothers, Eddie Arendale, Tommy Arendale, Mike Arendale, Curt Arendale, and Jimmy Arendale.
