Don Richard Senn, 81, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, May 18, 2024, at his home in Carroll County. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, at Carrollton Baptist Church with the Rev. Dustin Long officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service.
Don was born and raised in Rayville, La. and graduated from Rayville High School where he exceeded in sports. He attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe on a baseball scholarship and graduated with a degree in Animal Husbandry in 1965.
Don was one of the first fifteen employees hired by Helena Chemical and enjoyed a lengthy career with them, retiring as a Regional Sales Manager. He was an active member of Carrollton Baptist Church where he faithfully attended and willingly served in any capacity needed. He had an extraordinary love for horses and spent years raising and tending to them. Don was also an avid hunter and loved spending time with his family.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Evelyn Senn, and a brother, Joe Senn. He is survived by his wife, Charlene Smith Senn; daughters Carol Senn LeBeau (James) of Zachary, La., Stacie Aycock (Allen) of Paducah, Ky.; sons, Don Richard “Rick” Senn, II of Metairie, La., Chris Steed (Pink) of Inverness, Dee Steed (Kimberly) of Minter City; a sister, Regena Varvoutis (Art) of Pelham, Ala., brothers, Dewey Senn of Rayville, La., Hal Senn (Cindy) of Rayville, La.; Sister-in-law, Brenda Senn of Rayville, La.; eleven grandchildren, Avery Long, Meredith Long, Clifford Long, Lindsay Steed, Presley Steed, Landon Aycock, Mary Beth Aycock, Addison Aycock, Lawson Steed, Rolin Steed, Lakelyn Steed and fifteen great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Carrollton Baptist Church.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dewey Senn, Hal Senn, Larry Senn, Rick Senn, Chris Steed, Dee Steed, John Harris, Barry Bordelon, and Delbert Edwards.
