Funeral services for the Rev. William Ladell "Bro. Dale" Strickland Sr., of Kilmichael, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Poplar Creek Nations Baptist Church Cemetery near Kilmichael. The Rev. Ben Hill and the Rev. Brad Latham will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Noah Dean, Conner Dean, Mitch Leflore, Heath Yeatman, Wade Henson, Garrett Oswalt, and Michael McCoy. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacon Body of Poplar Creek Nations Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 14, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home.
The Rev. William Ladell Strickland Sr., known to most as simply "Bro. Dale", passed away on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center - Long Term Care, in Eupora at the age of 74. He was born in Eupora to John Dallas and Rillie Bradshaw Strickland on May 14, 1949. He was a retired Baptist minister, having served his Lord for nearly 50 years in ministry. He was also a retired employee of the former Bob's Pest Control. He received his bachelor's in liberal arts from Mississippi State University and remained an avid fan of the school's athletics for the remainder of his life. He was a member of the Duck Hill Lion's Club and was an avid supporter of Winona Christian School. He was devoted to his family and adored his grandchildren. He was a member of Poplar Creek Nations Baptist Church, where he proudly served the church as a deacon.
Bro. Dale is survived by his wife of 45 years, Evelyn Ferguson Strickland of Kilmichael; daughter, Amanda Strickland Dean (Bill) of Eupora; son, William Ladell "Willie" Strickland, Jr. (Aimee) of Hammond, La.; sister, Sarah Box of Eupora; brother, John Strickland (Alice) of Houston; six grandchildren, Noah Dean, Conner Dean, Brantley Dean, Callee Strickland, Trey Strickland III, and Houston Strickland; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Rodgers; and niece, Lynn Sellars.
