On Monday morning, July 22, North Carrollton Town Hall hosted a public hearing with North Central Planning and Development regarding the HOME Grant Investment Partnership Program. At their July meeting, the Board of Aldermen had approved a resolution to submit an application for financial assistance under the Mississippi Home Corporation 2024 Investment Partnership Program. Alderman Mitchell Costilow motioned for the approval, which was seconded by Alderman Edward Carpenter. The state of Mississippi has allocated approximately $3 million dollars that will be made available to cities and counties on a competitive basis to undertake homeowner rehabilitation/reconstruction activities.
“If the town is awarded funding there will be an application process where a public meeting will be held to for citizens to apply. I’m proud we are competing for these funds to help those that will be eligible,” North Carrollton Mayor Ken Strachan said.
The Carroll County Board of Supervisors has also filed an application for the county. According to Mayor Strachan, with the municipal and county governments being separate entities both the county and town could be awarded two separate grants.
